General SummaryThe Sim Coordinator oversees and supervises educators and participants in the Sim Grant section of the Clinical Education department, taking a lead role in designing, executing, and refining simulation experiences for learners, collecting feedback and data to assess and support study objectives, and creating reports on grant outcomes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Collaborates with nursing departments, nursing faculty, and other inter-professional entities to develop simulation scenarios to promote learning, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making.
- Mentors and coaches content experts in the development of simulation scenarios and debrief processes, modelling best instructional practices in the simulation/skills lab setting based on International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) standards of best practice.
- Sets up simulation experiences and collaborates with content experts to provide simulation scenarios to learners.
- Maintains and organizes simulation equipment according to best practices.
- Coordinates and supervises employees and students to ensure that simulation experiences meet determined outcomes.
- Oversees the collection of evaluation data on learning outcomes for simulation activities and collaborates to disseminate findings.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing required. Master’s degree preferred.
Work ExperienceAt least three (3) years of clinical experience required. At least one (1) year teaching nursing skills, concepts, and critical thinking with demonstrated record of success required. Experience with developing and implementing education offerings based on needs assessments, generating reports and tracking outcomes, and at least intermediate experience with Microsoft Office suite required.
Certification/LicenseCurrent RN license in the State of Missouri or Compact State. ACLS Instructor certification preferred American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
Mental/Physical RequirementsConsiderable mental concentration required. Lifting up to 35 lbs., turning activities and nearly constant walking required. Standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.
Working ConditionsTeaching environment with office noise and distractions. Potential exposure to infectious disease. Slight possibility of encounter with hostile persons.
