Labor& Delivery RN Job Details

- End Date: April 11, 2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Nursing Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, every 3rd weekend (mix of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
- Holiday Requirement: None
- Floating: Rare (post-partum only)
- Dress Code: Hospital-issued surgical scrubs
- Orientation: 1 day on the floor and 1 day in the OR (day shift)
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse license
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Basic Fetal Monitoring competency within the last 2 years
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns
- Perform and interpret Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
- Utilize fetal scalp electrodes and intrauterine pressure catheters (IUPC)
- Operate IV pumps, infusion devices, and epidural infusion pumps
- Monitor maternal vital signs and conduct newborn assessments
Respond to obstetric emergencies using appropriate emergency equipment - Conduct bedside point-of-care testing (glucose, urine)
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including OB techs and support staff
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic EMR
