& Delivery RN Job Details

• Location: Arlington Heights, IL 60005 (Chicago area nursing jobs)
• Healthcare Setting: Labor & Delivery Unit
• Employment Type: Travel RN Contract
• Start Date: January 11, 2026
• End Date: April 11, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Nursing Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, every 3rd weekend (mix of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
• Holiday Requirement: None
• Floating: Rare (post-partum only)
• Dress Code: Hospital-issued surgical scrubs
• Orientation: 1 day on the floor and 1 day in the OR (day shift)

Labor & Delivery RN Qualifications

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse license
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• Basic Fetal Monitoring competency within the last 2 years
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred

Labor & Delivery Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns
• Perform and interpret Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
• Utilize fetal scalp electrodes and intrauterine pressure catheters (IUPC)
• Operate IV pumps, infusion devices, and epidural infusion pumps
• Monitor maternal vital signs and conduct newborn assessments
  
  Respond to obstetric emergencies using appropriate emergency equipment
• Conduct bedside point-of-care testing (glucose, urine)
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including OB techs and support staff
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic EMR
