Job Title: Avionics Engineer – IVVQ
The job holder will be in charge of the different phases of Avionics testing:
Integration, Verification and Validation/Qualification of Satellite Avionics (Data Handling, Attitude and Orbit Control, Failure Detection Isolation and Recovery). The role also includes developing simulation models for Satellite Real Time Environment based on C/C++ compliant with ESA ECSS SMP standard.
- Real/Non‑Real Time test environment for Hardware In the Loop (HIL) testing
- Real Time Environment (RTE) Simulation modeling based on C/C++ compliant with ECSS SMP standard
- Matlab/Simulink programming
- Support to hardware unit specification and technical management of related procurement
- Study and understand the design provided by AOCS/DHC Design Authority to develop a verification and testing approach
- Develop and write test sequences for AOCS, DHC, and FDIR aspects
- Avionics V&V activity at Avionic Test Bench (ATB) level
Working site:
Rome, with possible short mid‑term relocations to other locations.
Short periods of 24‑hour shift work across the full week may be required for specific programme needs.
About YouEducation and Experience
You have a Master’s Degree in Electrical/Computer/Control Engineering, with explicit focus on programming, Hardware In the Loop Testing and Control Systems Engineering. You are fluent in English (C1 and above certification). Preferably you have at least 2–3 years of experience in a similar position.
Skills and Knowledge- Knowledge of kinematics and dynamics of rigid bodies
- Avionic sensors and actuators technology
- Knowledge of real/non‑real time test environment (for Hardware In the Loop HIL testing)
- Software or hybrid (HW/SW) simulators
- Matlab/Simulink programming
- C/C++ programming
- Knowledge of ESA technical standard
- Data Handling Hardware (On Board Computer, Remote Terminal Unit, GNSS receiver, microprocessors)
- Technical experience understanding the Avionic requirements of a Satellite (plus)
- Technical experience with Avionic EGSE elements and development on Spacecraft simulator (plus)
- Ability to work with laboratory instruments such as oscilloscope, multimeter, protocol analyser
- Ability to work independently and in a team in an international environment
- Ability to cope with workload pressure
- Knowledge of quality process and procedures

- Organized and methodical approach to work with strong communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, to work autonomously and in team
