The Staff accountant is responsible for carrying out tasks impacting Treasury and the general ledger. The staff accountant is required to process journal entries and post transaction activity including intercompany transactions as well as reconcile the general ledger accounts. Staff accountants will support the senior accountant in reviewing transactions, coding expenses, and processing payments that impact the balance sheet, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.

This position requires a strong understanding of accounting policies and procedures to assist in maintaining financial records and ensure that financial transactions are properly recorded. The staff accountant will perform day-to-day accounting activities and month-end close activities by applying practical knowledge of the function typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.

Essential Functions

  • Support the Treasury function by processing wires and manual payments needed.
  • Retrieve corporate credit card statements, support Concur and Concur users, code expenses and forward to AP for payment processing
  • Assist with internal and external audit samples.
  • Assist with annual physical inventory
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Support month-end and year-end close process by:
  • Ensuring tasks are completed on time & all deadlines for month end reporting are met
  • Process recurring & standard journal entries
  • Prepare & record accrual journal entries.
  • Record & Reconcile Intercompany transactions
  • Take ownership in GL accounts assigned to you and be able to explain variances
  • Preparation of a monthly reporting workbook; fixed assets and Intercompany balances
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP principles.
  • Support with Ad hoc projects as required.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. At times, due to projects or work assignments, employee will need to coordinate and direct a team to meet/satisfy individual/company objectives.

This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. At times, employee might be exposed to manufacturing environment, including forklift traffic, fumes, noise, and operating manufacturing equipment.

Physical Demands
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM. To meet our customer demands and internal objectives, at times this role will be required to work outside of the normal schedule, including weekends.

Travel

No overnight travel is expected for this position. There may be occasional local day travel or overnight travel as it relates to training activities or support of assigned plants/locations.

Required

Education and Experience
  • Associate’s degree in accounting/finance or equivalent relevant work experience and/or education.
Preferred

Education and Experience
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth company.
  • Manufacturing environment experience using an ERP software preferred.
