Job Summary: The Mentor for Our World Today is a 12-month position responsible for designing and leading engaging daily conversations that help Neighbors explore local, state, national, and international current events through a Biblical worldview. This role invites Neighbors to ask questions, make connections, and grow in discernment as they learn to understand the world around them in light of Scripture.
In addition to leading workshops, the Mentor serves as a consistent, trusted presence on campus, supporting relationship‑building and encouraging growth toward Abundant Life at Amber Grace.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Design and lead engaging, inclusive workshop sessions (4x/day) that explore local, state, national, and international current events through a Biblical worldview.
- Facilitate discussion‑based learning to encourage curiosity, thoughtful questions, and faith‑centered reflection rather than lecture‑based instruction.
- Translate complex or abstract current events into accessible, meaningful conversations for Neighbors with varied learning styles and abilities.
- Use a variety of tools (discussion prompts, visuals, media, storytelling, and real‑life examples) to bring current events to life.
- Conduct daily check‑ins with a specified group of Neighbors to foster relationship, connection, and community.
- Support the planning and facilitation of special Friday programming, which differs from regular weekday workshops.
- Help develop and support Personal Growth Plans for Neighbors by reinforcing communication, discernment, and social engagement skills.
- Foster a Christ‑like, safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.
- Maintain regular communication with other Mentors, the Director of Programming, Support Families, Coaches, and families of Neighbors.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and community events.
Qualifications:
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in special education, theology, or related field preferred
- Experience working with individuals with IDD.
- Passion for faith‑based learning, conversation, and spiritual formation.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal
- Ability to lead groups and facilitate meaningful discussion.
- Ability to differentiate and scaffold content to support various learning styles and levels.
- Ability and willingness to represent Amber Grace in a Christ‑like, professional manner.
- Able to demonstrate care, dignity and respect when working with Neighbors.
- Protects confidentiality and other rights of the Neighbors.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
- Knowledge of office equipment and computer proficiency.
- Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite applications with ability to learn and operate additional software applications as appropriate.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills using the English language.
- Must possess a valid and non‑encumbered Georgia driver’s license.
