Reports To: Director of Student Services
Minimum Qualification- Certified School Social Worker Certificate as required by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
To enhance students' individual and educational potential through school social work services.
Responsibilities- Provides social, emotional, and behavioral support to students, families, and school staff to enhance student well‑being and academic success.
- Develops and administers the student referral system.
- Collects data necessary for assessment of the student’s challenges as indicated by the referral form.
- Adheres to applicable education and social service laws.
- Maintains case records and ensures compliance with school and district policies and state regulations.
- Implements intervention strategies related to student challenges.
- Responds to student crises, including mental health concerns and family emergencies.
- When appropriate, participates in required educational services for students on caseload.
- Serves as liaison between the home and school.
- Consults with teachers, staff, and family regarding the needs of the child.
- Serves as a liaison with community resource and service agencies.
- Develops/assists in developing programs designed to meet identified student and staff needs.
- Engages in professional growth activities.
- Attends School Social Worker conferences and workshops.
- Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret information relevant to the position, including being able to speak effectively to small and large groups of people, and to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Must be able to articulate the vision and mission for the district and provide appropriate direction, guidance, and management skills to achieve them.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Student Services.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
