About Us

Georgia Highlands College is a multi‑campus, state college member of the University System of Georgia. Founded in 1970 as Floyd Junior College, it now serves more than 6,000 students in Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama across its five locations in Rome, Cartersville, Marietta and Dallas. GHC currently offers over 30 areas of study with associate and bachelor’s degrees both in the classroom and online.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for creating, evaluating, and delivering high‑quality instructional materials to Georgia Highlands College students. The role requires adherence to the teaching section of the Expectations of the Teaching Faculty.

Responsibilities
  • Understand, support, and carry out the college's mission, vision, values, and comply with government and accrediting mandates.
  • Teach a full load of 18 credit hours in both fall and spring terms.
  • Regularly review and update course‐related materials, including a syllabus containing all required information.
  • Provide a digital copy of the course syllabus and objectives to all students no later than the first day of term; the syllabus should be available in D2L.
  • Inform students about assessment methods and criteria through the syllabus, ensuring alignment with Student Learning Outcomes.
  • Objectively assess student work, correct grading errors, and return assignments in a timely manner, offering useful feedback throughout the course.
  • Model effective oral and written communication.
  • Prepare for each class session, presenting material in an organized, enthusiastic manner.
  • Follow best practices in designing, implementing, and teaching all courses.
  • Participate in advising and new‑student orientations as required.
  • Incorporate conversations about academic success, career goals, and graduation into student interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in the discipline.
Compensation

Proposed Salary: $45,000 annually.
