Pre K Educational Diagnostician

Contract Work Year: 190 Days

The Educational Diagnostician works collaboratively with School Psychologists and other evaluators to determine students’ potential needs for special educational services. The Educational Diagnostician will administer achievement tests and various rating scales as directed by the psychologist, while also maintaining the students’ testing file and ensuring compliance with IDEA timelines for initial and re-evaluations.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • Five years of successful teaching experience as a special education teacher.
  • Preferred Master’s Degree or higher.
  • Valid teaching license with special education certification or endorsements. Exhibit positive interpersonal skills necessary to deal with diverse publics and colleagues.
  • Meet the needs of stakeholders tactfully and courteously.
  • Listens, understands, and follows directions.
  • Punctual and exceptional attendance.
  • Use of good judgment while recognizing the scope of authority.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively with a team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain student confidentiality and monitor confidential files for students with disabilities.
  • Maintain open and ongoing communication with Special Education Director, School Psychologists, and all other evaluators (OT, PT, SLP, AT Specialist, BCBA, etc.).
  • Maintain inventory of Psychological Services materials and instruments/protocols and submit purchase requisitions to the Director.
  • Serve as a liaison between SST Coordinators, Special Education School Leads, and Psychological Services Department.
  • Administer and score a variety of assessments and rating scales, upon receiving training.
  • Serve as Local Education Agency (LEA) representative in special education meetings.
  • Assist with pre‑k pre‑referral, intervention, referral, and screening/evaluation procedures.
  • District‑level oversight of referral and evaluation timelines as well as digital files in GO‑IEP and Google Drive.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure accurate documentation and timely data input/submission for students with disabilities at the district level.
  • Analyze urgent situations accurately and exercise judgment in taking effective action when dealing with students and colleagues of all levels.
  • Maintain awareness of and compliance with federal and state regulations regarding Special Education.
  • Maintains a system to manage referrals for evaluation.
  • Organize tasks and complete them with efficient use of time.
  • Coordinate and schedule testing sessions including set up of materials, instruments, needed technology.

Position Type: Full‑Time

Salary: $50,000 to $70,000 Per Year
