This position provides quality standards-based instruction in the content area; assesses and encourages student progress, manages an effective learning environment to maximize student achievement, and ensures that students gain appropriate knowledge and skills about the industry and are prepared for career and post-secondary opportunities.

Representative duties and responsibilities include accounts for student attendance and punctuality, adhering to all state guidelines required for the implementation of a successful program, assessing and providing for differentiation to assure student progress while managing the learning environment, assuring security and accountability for classroom equipment and supplies, attending school-level, district-level, and state-specific professional learning activities as directed, completing reports, documentation, duties, and other assignments in a prompt and professional manner, complying with state and system-level regulations and policies;

including the rules of the Professional Standards Commission Code of Ethics for Educators, establishing and maintaining industry and post-secondary connections to promote/encourage students' participation in continuing education opportunities; including Dual Enrollment and Articulation Credit Programs, engaging, conducting, and documenting meeting minutes of an active local CTAE Workforce Development Advisory Committee for the curriculum area's career-related activities support, facilities and coordinates a rigorous curriculum with career-related instruction, facilitating communication between school and home by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications, integrating appropriate technology into classroom instruction, maintaining class discipline to provide a proper learning environment in the lab and/or classroom, maintaining professional development competence through ongoing educational and professional development training, as required for certification, maintaining prompt and professional communication with students, parents, colleagues, and school leadership, making industry connections to promote service-learning, cooperative education, and work-based learning opportunities for students;

utilizing advisory committees for regular input, managing and maintaining the program's assigned facilities, equipment, software, and supplies, including accurate inventory, modeling enthusiasm for the subject area and demonstrating current innovations in the industry, including competition within the global economy, providing adequate information, plans, and materials for substitutes, providing a classroom environment which promotes active learning in the subject area, providing content-related and appropriate instruction based on state and local curriculum through a combination of classroom, laboratory, and co-curricular experiences, providing community-based instruction and projects based on program guidelines and requirements, showing initiative and assuming responsibility for all aspects of job responsibilities, sponsoring/infusing co-curricular student organization (CTSO) experiences to students in the program for the purpose of leadership development, advanced technical skills attainment, workforce readiness preparation, and college career-readiness studies, utilizing a variety of teaching strategies and resources appropriate for students assigned to the teacher, and performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.
