Job Description
The Facilities Budget Manager / Financial Analyst aids in planning,developing, and managing the Facilities operating and capital budgets while providing data-driven financial analysis. This role liaisons with college business leadership and facilities department head to align budgets and financial decisions with the college'sstrategic and operational goals.
Key Responsibilities Budget Management- Fosters the annual and quarterly budgeting process, including timelines, templates, and guidance for departments.
- Assists with development, presentation, & update of operating and capital budgets; ensure compliance with internal policies and financial constraints.
- Monitor budget performance throughout the year, track variances, and prepare regular budget vs. actual reports.
- Review and identify budget adjustments and amendments, coordinating with stakeholders to address funding gaps or changing priorities.
- Design, enhance, and maintain budgetary management systems,tools, and dashboards to improve visibility and control.
- Analyze financial reports and operational data to evaluate performance, trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Build and maintain financial models to forecast expenses and operating needs.
- Provide financial insight and recommendations to support strategic initiatives, pricing, equipment/purchasing, andcost-saving opportunities.
- Research market, industry, and macroeconomic trends to develop planning assumptions and management decisions.
- Measure financial value and risk for key projects, investments,and facility endeavors.
- Prepare clear, concise management reports and presentations forsenior leadership.
- Partner with department leaders to understand operational needs, provide financial guidance, and ensure budget accountability.
- Communicate financial information in an accessible way to both financial and non-financial audiences.
- Collaborate with Accounting & finance teams to ensure data accuracy and consistent forecasting assumptions.
- Ensure budgets and financial processes align with college goals, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and document budgeting and forecasting procedures and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and control.
- Support or lead implementations and enhancements of financial systems and reporting tools.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field required.
- Master's degree (MBA, MS in Finance) and/or professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA) are a plus.
- Typically 1-2+ years of progressive experience in budgeting,financial analysis, or related discipline.
- Proven experience managing an annual budgeting cycle and supporting senior management with financial insights.
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, with advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Solid understanding of budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to communicate with senior leadership.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and build effective business partnerships.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to connect financial outcomes to business drivers.
- Problem-solving mindset and comfort working with large, complex data sets.
- Integrity and sound judgment in handling sensitive financial information.
- Proactive and resourceful, with a continuous improvement mindset.
