Grant Writer Job Description February 17, 2023
The Rome Floyd County Development Authority is looking to hire an effective Grant Writer with excellent research and communication skills. Applicants should be able to clearly communicate in both written and verbal communication, especially in grant proposals, as this is the primary duty. Responsibilities include finding funding opportunities including researching deadlines, drafting and submitting grant requests, and grant administration. Compensation based on experience.
Grant Writer duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Study and understand the history, structure, objectives, programs and financial needs of the organization.
- Research grant opportunities from government and non-government agencies.
- Experience with and a track record of success writing federal and state grants, with an emphasis on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), the US and Georgia Department of Transportation (USDOT and GDOT), Economic Development Administration (US EDA), and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (GA DCA), etc.
- Draft grant proposals and supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the organization.
- Submit proposals to grant agency coordinators for approval.
- Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals.
- Maintain positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders.
- Maintain records and submit reports related to grant opportunities.
- Travel as required.
Grant Writer skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, creative writing, or a related area.
- A minimum of two years’ experience in grant writing.
- Excellent knowledge of proposal submission and fundraising process.
- Strong research skills and knowledge of grant sources.
- Multitasking, organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle confidential matters with utmost integrity.
