Job DescriptionMakes daily rounds to assigned areas to deliver, check, change, and set up equipment. Stocks respiratory and medical gas supply equipment in all patient areas. Directs supply-chain management for all ordering, stocking, and inventory of respiratory therapy department supplies. Maintains all respiratory supply areas to optimal par levels and coordinates with nursing unit leaders to keep an organized stock/supply room. Provides non-direct patient care support services for the respiratory therapy department.
Manages and distributes medical gas cylinders, including inventory and cylinder transport to all patient care areas. Documents and charges for procedures accurately and completely. Demonstrates collaboration and teamwork in assisting with patient flow. Practices standard precautions and enforces safety regulations according to hospital policies on a continual basis. Checks all soiled utility rooms for respiratory equipment. Troubleshoots broken or damaged respiratory equipment, including equipment removed from service by staff, and assists in the management of rental equipment.
Sets up ventilator and critical care Bi-level breathing machines, including routine operational system checks. May assist with EKGs and pacemaker interrogations per facility needs. Communicates with vendors, representatives, and outside business partners regarding new equipment for the department, including managing the bronchoscope exchange and repair process.
