The Assistant Director
- Human Resources provides strategic and operational leadership in support of the College's Human Resource functions. The Assistant Director partners with academic and administrative leaders to advance institutional goals through effective talent management, employee relations, compliance, system utilization and organizational development initiatives. The Assistant Director provides leadership and oversight to three Human Resource Business Partners located on three separate campuses, in addition to managing the HRIS function and coordinating closely with Payroll.
This role serves as a trusted advisor to organizational leadership and represents the Chief Human Resource Officer in their absence, ensuring continuity, alignment, and effective Human Resources operations across the institution.
Responsibilities include collaborating with senior leadership, deans, department chairs, and administrative units to align HR initiatives with institutional strategy. The Assistant Director assists in developing and implementing HR policies and programs that support faculty and staff success. They provide data-driven insights to inform workforce planning and decision-making, lead or co-lead cross-functional institutional projects related to HR strategy and change management, and provide guidance to HR Business Partners on routine employee relations matters including performance management, corrective action, and conflict resolution.
The Assistant Director oversees investigations related to complaints, policy violations, and workplace concerns; promotes a respectful campus work environment. They ensure consistent application of institutional policies and practices, oversee HRIS data accuracy, reporting, and analytics, and recruitment processes ensuring equitable and compliant hiring practices aligned with higher education standards. They collaborate across Human Resources to support onboarding programs that integrate new employees into the campus community and support HR Business Partners in partnering with hiring managers to develop competitive and compliant job postings.
They support annual performance review processes for faculty, staff, and administrators, assist in designing professional development and leadership training programs, and contribute to succession planning initiatives.
The Assistant Director ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and higher education regulations, supports reporting requirements and audits related to employment practices, and provides consultation related to adherence to applicable regulations including Title IX and other institutional policies. They contribute to annual budget planning for HR operations and perform other duties as assigned.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Higher Education Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, seven or more years of progressively responsible experience in human resources, including three or more years in a supervisory or management capacity, and three or more years of experience leading or overseeing employee relations functions, with expertise in managing complex workplace issues.
Preferred qualifications include HR professional certification through the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP) or the HR Certification Institute (PHR or SPHR).
Proposed salary is $71,452 - $75,177 annually. Required documents to attach include a cover letter, resume, and transcripts.
