About Us Georgia Highlands College is a multi-campus, state college member of the University System of Georgia. Founded in 1970 as Floyd Junior College, it now serves more than 6,000 students in Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama across its five locations in Rome, Cartersville, Marietta, and Dallas. This position provides support for various functions at the Georgia Highlands College Writing Center. This position is at our Floyd location. Must be a current GHC student currently enrolled for at least six (6) credit hours (in most instances).
Responsibilities- Is responsible to understand, support, and carry out the college's mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies
- Conducts individualized sessions to support students with brainstorming, organizing, drafting, revising, and editing student writing assignment(s)
- Provides constructive, respectful feedback on content, structure, clarity, and mechanics without rewriting the student's work
- Maintains accurate records of sessions and follows Writing Center protocols
- Utilizes and promotes Writing Center resources such as handouts, workshops, and class visits
- Performs other duties as assigned
- This is not a Supervisory position
- The Writing Center Coordinator will assign tasks and direct work of this position
- High school diploma or equivalent and current GHC undergraduate student with:
- Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) currently being met
- Current-Year FAFSA on file with all verifications and any other requirements complete
- Currently enrolled for at least six (6) credit hours (in most instances)
- Some prior experience is preferred but not required. Job specific training will be provided.
- $12.00 per hour
- 19 hours per week max.

- Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately
- Ability to work independently on a task and utilize appropriate critical thinking, decision making, and problem solving within area of responsibility
