Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Industrial Engineer with a strong foundation in Lean methodologies to drive operational efficiency across equipment utilization, facility layout optimization, and production workflows. This role acts as a strategic advisor to the Plant Manager, guiding improvement initiatives from concept through implementation. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with production and maintenance teams, providing hands‑on support to resolve day‑to‑day operational challenges.

Key responsibilities include developing detailed manufacturing process documentation and product flow diagrams, conducting root‑cause analysis to ensure sustainable problem resolution, and evaluating current practices to implement enhancements that uphold quality and maximize efficiency.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Conceive, design, develop, and test innovative solutions for manufacturing processes based on analysis and organizational objectives.
  • Identify design improvements based on activity levels; assess footprint capacity within facilities and develop plans to better utilize space.
  • Identify equipment improvements based on activity levels; assess throughput capacity and develop plans to remove bottlenecks and breakdowns.
  • Create and maintain required documentation for manufacturing processes, including flow charts, capacity and utilization studies, time and motion studies, standard work, cycle time analysis, and line balancing.
  • Empower employees and optimize existing activities based on standards and best practices from Six Sigma, LEAN, etc.
  • Study and analyze current processes, determine their effectiveness, and recommend strategies for improvement with implementation timelines.
  • Conduct time‑study analysis to establish production standards for departments.
  • Advocate for continuous improvement by promoting a strong teamwork atmosphere and a community of process improvement practice.
  • Research and introduce equipment or other technologies.
  • Additional responsibilities assigned as necessary.
Qualifications Competencies
  • Highly hands‑on with a strong mechanical aptitude is a must.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills, careful and systematic evaluation of information, possible alternatives, and consequences.
  • Mechanical skills required to perform equipment maintenance and fabrication in collaboration with other team members to develop practical solutions.
  • Ability to understand production processes.
  • Ability to understand and lead the implementation of low‑level automation/robotics options.
  • Ability to follow all quality standards and guidelines strictly.
  • Multi‑tasking skills are required to manage multiple projects and various project activities.
  • Ability to identify cost reductions and provide ROI justifications for change/acquisition of equipment.
  • Knowledge of or experience with value stream mapping and application thereof.
  • Conceptual and intuitive thinking, linking problems and symptoms to identify underlying issues and root causes.
  • Presentation skills to communicate to an audience formally.
  • Make sound decisions in a timely and confident manner.
  • A demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment, take initiative, work independently of day‑to‑day supervision, and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, leading continuous improvement efforts and lean methods and tools.
  • Maintenance/Mechanical experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of industrial engineering concepts such as work cell layout and material flow analysis is a plus.
  • Proven ability to carry out design calculations.
  • Strong project and program management skills preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Ability to travel 40%.
