Job DescriptionThis position serves as a leader and contact person for employees throughout the day. Working with the Production Supervisor, it assigns duties to employees, ensures completion of tasks, reports any employee, production or equipment issues to the Production Supervisor, and supports Rome facility metrics, initiatives and programs. The role also works with other team members to create and maintain a safe and organized working environment that meets or exceeds MAT HD – Rome facility standards and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Assist Production Supervisor with operations of the designated area.
- Backup Production Supervisor when needed, including positive relationship building.
- Assume leadership responsibilities on the floor.
- Assign duties to employees and ensure tasks are completed.
- Conduct and participate in team meetings.
- Communicate with Production Supervisor on any employee, production or equipment issues.
- Identify developmental needs for employees and provide training on operations.
- Ensure all jobs are performed in a safe manner, equipment is kept in safe working condition, and proper PPE is available and worn.
- When applicable, distribute all PMs to appropriate personnel and follow up for completion.
- Oversee operation of all aspects of production in the area of responsibility.
- Perform routine maintenance on applicable equipment.
- Be knowledgeable of all positions in the area of responsibility.
- Operate computer and database systems.
- Assist Production Supervisor with preparation of required metrics and tracking.
- Perform additional duties assigned by Supervisor and/or management.
- High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
- Strong leadership abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to identify developmental needs in employees.
- Ability to backup Production Supervisor.
- Strong focus on safety.
- Two to five years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment preferred.
- Willingness and ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment.
- Must be willing to submit to background check, employment verification, and drug screening.
