Donor Relations Officer
Shorter University is seeking a Christ-centered, goal-oriented fundraising professional to serve as Donor Relations Officer. Reporting to the Vice President for University Advancement, this role is responsible for personally engaging donors, managing a portfolio, and increasing financial support for the University.
This position is ideal for a relational self-starter who thrives on meaningful interaction, mission-aligned work, and clear outcomes. The Donor Relations Officer will play a key role in cultivating and stewarding donor relationships while supporting fundraising efforts across academics, arts, athletics, and other institutional priorities that advance Shorter's mission.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and actively manage a dynamic portfolio of qualified donors and prospects, with the goal of completing regular outreach and stewardship to build long-term philanthropic relationships.
- Initiate and conduct regular personal visits with alumni, parents, friends, and community stakeholders to solicit gifts and deepen engagement.
- Participate in fundraising campaigns, including but not limited to initiatives related to academics, arts, annual giving, and athletics.
- Support the execution of fundraising events by contributing to planning meetings, coordinating donor outreach, and engaging in donor interaction during events
- Prepare clear, compelling proposals, donor communications, and impact reports.
- Identify and pursue grant opportunities aligned with institutional needs.
- Submit regular progress updates, including donor activity metrics and fundraising outcomes.
- Represent Shorter University with integrity, warmth, and a deep commitment to Christian values.
- Perform additional related responsibilities as needed to support the University's mission and fundraising goals.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, ministry, or other relationship-driven roles.
- High energy, self-motivated, and mission-driven.
- Some travel required; occasional evening and weekend work expected in support of events and donor engagements held outside standard office hours.
- Must be a committed Christian whose character and conduct reflect the mission of Shorter University.
