Advanced Practice Physician (APP)

Location:

304 Turner McCall Blvd – Surgery, FLMG General Surgery

Schedule:

Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday (no on‑call, weekends, or holidays)
Pay Range: $51.05 – $76.60 per hour

Major Responsibilities
  • Complete and document accurate comprehensive, episodic history and physical assessments
  • Order, perform, supervise, and interpret diagnostic laboratory and imaging studies
  • Prescribe treatments and therapies, including medications, diet, supplies, prosthetic devices, and equipment
  • Implement primary and secondary prevention strategies and manage acute and chronic health problems
  • Provide clear, concise, accurate, and legible information regarding patient care in the record
  • Formulate a comprehensive plan of care in collaboration with the patient and interdisciplinary team
  • Meet billing and productivity metrics where appropriate and maintain relevant documentation
  • Perform other clinical duties as required
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop resource‑conscious care delivery strategies
  • Educate patients, families, staff, and significant others using established educational materials and assist patients and families in making health care decisions
Professional Duties
  • Advocate for patients, families, co‑workers, the community, and the nursing profession
  • Advise leadership on organizational change, quality improvement initiatives, best practice research, and patient care best practices, integrating evidence‑based knowledge into decision making
  • Participate in peer review in accordance with privileges, competency assessment activities, and maintain appropriate credentialing and privileging requirements
  • Seek formal and independent learning activities to maintain and develop clinical and professional skills and knowledge
  • Establish effective relationships with the interdisciplinary team, including collaborating physicians as appropriate
  • Advance the profession through presentations and publications
  • Conduct, assist, or mentor others in research through participant selection, protocol coordination, data collection, and other associated activities
  • Encourage involvement in professional organizations
Leadership Duties
  • Provide feedback to and consult with leadership on assessment, problem‑solving, decision‑making, and evaluating system issues and care models
  • Identify and participate in quality‑improvement initiatives, translating clinical research findings into evidence‑based interventions
  • Participate or lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated patient care services
  • Initiate and revise protocols or guidelines, facilitating organizational change to reflect evidence‑based best practice
  • Perform comprehensive patient population needs assessments, analyze data, and provide recommendations for organizational outcomes
  • Advise interdisciplinary care teams with evidence‑based interventions, health promotion information, and population health management strategies
  • Work to influence policy‑making bodies to improve patient care
Licensure

PA‑C or NP

Education and Experience Required
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • OR
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • Well‑developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency with an Electronic Medical Record
  • National certification as a CNS from an accredited body
  • Current Illinois APRN license
  • Current Illinois Registered Nurse license
  • Current Illinois Controlled Substance license within six months of hire
  • Eligible for DEA registration; possession of a current DEA registration within six months of hire
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current PALS/ACLS certification may vary based on practice site
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Travel may be required
  • Ability to work varying hours and shifts, including on‑call coverage, as required by Advocate Health Care
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and in difficult situations
  • Ability to respond quickly to patient needs and work at a fast pace; routinely work with potentially infectious specimens and patients
  • Work environment includes possible exposure to adverse, hazardous, or unpleasant conditions while caring for patients
  • Must recognize needs and behaviors of various patient age groups, including child growth and development, adolescent behavior patterns, and signs of normal aging
