Exercise Specialist – Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center – Outpatient Rehabilitation
Location:
255 W 5th St, Rome, GA. Type:
Full‑time.
Hours:
40 per week. Pay Range: $19.80 – $29.70 per hour. Status:
Active.
Exercise Specialists support clinical staff by designing and implementing exercise programs that improve cardiovascular function, body composition, and physical strength. The role involves hands‑on transfer, lift, ambulation, and range‑of‑motion activities, ensuring patients maintain their highest functional level while receiving acute and rehabilitation care.
Key Responsibilities- Demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of patients served, applying principles of growth and development across the lifespan.
- Assess patient status through data collection and interpret information to identify age‑specific care requirements.
- Prioritize tasks and reallocate workload in response to urgent or increased demands, supporting colleagues during fluctuating census.
- Maintain multitasking proficiency and discern when to request additional support.
- Apply problem‑solving skills to address minor issues as they arise.
- Organize supply ordering, receiving, stocking, and equipment maintenance, while managing patient documentation (excluding creation of patient‑care records).
- Use caution and judgment when transporting patients, communicating effectively with therapists, physicians, interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families.
Job Requirements Education
- Bachelor of Science in exercise science, exercise physiology, or kinesiology from an accredited institution.
- Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and medicinal preparations.
- Full range of body motion required for handling, lifting, and transferring patients.
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Corrected vision and hearing within normal limits.
- Work under stressful conditions or irregular hours as needed.
- Exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids as part of the hospital environment.
- Base compensation within the stated pay range, commensurate with qualifications, experience, and training.
