Average patients/day: 12-15

Minimum Years of Experience required: 2 years of Level III or IV NICU experience

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

23 weeks and above.
Respiratory distress, micro-premies, bubble cpap/oscillator, drug and alcohol (eat/sleep/console), observation and treat for hypoglycemia, can treat bili babies, feeders/growers
EPIC experience required within about the last year (ask manager approval if more than a year)
No surgical interventions or ECMO

Patient Ratios:

1:1-3, depending on acuity. Could go up to 1:4 if only feeders/growers

Required License, National Certification, Certs:

BLS, NRP
STABLE preferred

Skills required:

IV placement, feeding tube placement NG/OG/management, central lines (UAC/UVC/PICC), assisting with bedside procedures (central line placements, etc.), following feed schedule, positioning patients appropriately, critical drips, admissions, peripheral lab draws

Support within the Department:

NNP 24/7
NICU RT 24/7
OT-CLC during the day
2 Neonatologist on site during the day, on call at night
HUC/CNA
Charge nurse 24/7 – will try not to give patient assignment
Manager/Supervisor during the day
Lactation consultant during the day

Technology/Equipment:

EMR: EPIC – experience required within last year

Milk prep room (Angel Eye), Medfusion syringe pump for fluids and for feeds
