Posizione
We are looking for a Head of Finance who, in line with the values, mission, and policies of the global movement, will ensure sound and reliable financial management of the organisation by overseeing financial resources, effective accounting and administrative systems, and robust internal controls.
The role provides accurate and timely financial planning, analysis, and reporting to support decision-making, contributing to the transparent and accountable use of resources, in line with Amnesty International Italy's compliance and risk management requirements.
The role includes the following responsibilities and activities:

Financial Planning and Control

Define and oversee financial planning and management control frameworks.
Lead the budgeting process (annual and multi-year), monitor variances, and propose corrective actions.
Support the Leadership Team in interpreting financial data and decision-making, promoting a data-driven approach.
Partner with Fundraising teams, providing financial insights, income and cash flow forecasting, and ROI analysis to support effective planning, informed decision-making, and sustainable income growth.

Administrative, Accounting and Tax Management

Ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of administrative, accounting, and tax activities, in compliance with applicable regulations and movement principles.
Oversee statutory accounts and periodic financial closings.
Define and update policies, procedures, and accounting systems, including treasury and cash flow management.
Ensuring support to over 100 local volunteer treasurers in managing operating expenses and bank accounts for local groups and structures.

Financial Reporting, Internal Control and Audit

Lead the production of financial reporting for senior management, governance bodies, and stakeholders.
Oversee internal control systems and financial KPIs, in line with internal frameworks and international standards.
Coordinate and support internal and external audits, including those related to restricted funds and co-funded projects.

Process Coordination and Integration

Oversee administrative activities across the organisation, ensuring quality, consistency, and data integration.
Promote the optimisation and continuous improvement of processes and systems, including digitalisation and harmonisation.

Movement Financial Mechanisms and Funds Management

Oversee and implement key financial mechanisms within the movement (e.g. redistribution model, cost sharing, internal grants).
Monitor restrictions, allocations, and use of resources in line with international guidelines.
Support the financial sustainability of the Section in relation to the global movement.
Oversee the financial management of bank accounts held by local groups and regional or territorial structures, ensuring alignment with organisational policies and controls.

International Dimension and Coordination (IS)

Ensure the preparation and submission of financial reports to the International Secretariat.
Actively participate in global finance coordination forums.
Support the implementation of international policies, guidelines, and motions.
Contribute to the development of financial models across the movement.

External Relations and Stakeholder Management

Manage relationships with banks, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
Collaborate with governance bodies and relevant international structures of the movement.
Maintain regular engagement with the Section's Treasurer through participating in periodic meetings, providing financial insights and supporting governance processes.

Leadership and Staff Management

Lead and develop the team, setting priorities and objectives.
Promote a culture of high standards, quality, and continuous improvement.

Cross-functional Contribution

Contribute to national and international projects and working groups.
Undertake additional responsibilities as delegated by the Director.

Requisiti
Requirements

A university degree (preferably in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field) is considered a strong asset.
Experience in managing teams, including small-sized teams.
Significant experience in the non-profit sector (required); experience in for-profit organizations is considered a plus.
Willingness and ability to engage in operational and hands-on activities when required.
Native-level Italian; very good command of English.
