Substitute School Social Worker – Leave Coverage

The Rome City School District is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substitute School Social Worker to provide temporary coverage for a leave of absence from October 2026 through February 2027. Reporting to the Director of Counseling Services, the School Social Worker plays a vital role in promoting student well-being and academic success by addressing social, emotional, and environmental barriers to learning.

The successful candidate will provide direct student support, crisis intervention, case management, and evidence-based interventions while fostering strong partnerships among students, families, school staff, and community agencies. The School Social Worker will contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive school climate and respond thoughtfully to the diverse cultural backgrounds, needs, and family dynamics of students.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified social worker to support students and families within a collaborative school environment during a temporary leave assignment.

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with students, families, school staff, and community agencies.
  • Understanding of confidentiality requirements and ethical standards applicable to school social work.
  • Proficiency in documentation, reporting, and maintaining confidential student records.
