Position Summary
The Parts Trimmer is responsible for trimming, finishing, inspecting, and packaging plastic injection molded parts to ensure they meet customer quality specifications. This position requires attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to work a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining high quality and safety standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Trim excess plastic material from bumpers, sprues from injection molded parts using trimming knives, side cutters, clippers, grinders or other hand tools, mostly the trimming knives.
- Visually inspect part for defects such as flash, short shots, cracks, sink marks, discoloration, warping, scratches or blemishes.
- Perform finishing operations including sanding, deburring, and cleaning parts as required.
- Use measuring instruments such as calipers and gauges to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet specifications.
- Package and label finished products according to customer requirements.
- Separate acceptable parts from scrap and properly dispose of defective materials.
- Maintain quality.
- Keep work area clean, organized and compliant with safety regulations.
- Follow all company safety procedures, quality standards, and work instructions.
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous manufacturing, assembly, or plastic injection molding experience preferred
- Experience using hand tools and measuring equipment is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to read and follow written work instructions and quality specifications
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Frequent use of hands for trimming and handling small parts
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Ability to work in a fast paced production environment while meeting production goals
- Plastic Injection Molding
- Trimming automotive plastic components
- Familiarity with quality inspection standards and lean manufacturing practices
- Experience working in high-volume production environment
The position is performed in a manufacturing facility with exposure to injection molding machines, trimming tools, and production equipment. Employees are required to wear appropriate PPE and adhere to all company safety policies.
