VacancyThe Valley View Public School District is seeking an individual to fill a full‑time Autism teaching position for the 2026‑2027 school year.
Job SummaryThe Autism teacher is responsible for planning and delivering instructional lessons that meet the needs of autistic students, creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning, and employing effective instructional techniques. Additional duties may be assigned in accordance with the Board's policies and requirements.
Qualifications- Knowledge and experience with autistic learners
- Satisfactory special education teaching experience
- Expertise in behavior management strategies
- Ability to write and implement Individual Educational Plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication skills with students, teachers, and parents
- Ability to work cooperatively with others
- Design high‑content, engaging work for students.
- Plan and instruct students on District and State Standards aligned curriculum, using integrated or direct service approaches as appropriate.
- Accommodate, modify, and adapt lessons and curriculum as needed to meet individual student needs and IEP goals.
- Support the facilitation of IEP meetings and the development of IEPs.
- Establish a safe, positive classroom environment appropriate to the developmental levels and interests of students.
- Plan collaboratively with staff to develop specially designed instruction using different co‑teaching models as appropriate.
- Modify, adapt, and conduct formal and informal assessments to evaluate student progress; administer standardized and informal assessments as directed.
- Monitor and review student progress via assessment data, maintain records of student work, and develop intervention strategies.
- Set and communicate clear expectations for classroom behavior; apply positive reinforcement and behavior modification techniques. Assist in developing student behavior intervention plans.
- Communicate verbally and in writing regularly with parents, educators, and students on progress.
- Meet regularly with other teachers, paraprofessionals, and specialists to discuss modifications, interventions, and concerns.
- Attend and participate in building and district teams to address academic or behavior concerns.
- Collaborate with staff in planning, modifying, enhancing and implementing curriculum, school and district goals and objectives.
- Enforce and support district and school policies, philosophies, and objectives with students and parents.
- Participate in staff development and school improvement activities; plan and implement best practices.
- Participate in events outside the regularly scheduled workday.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work is performed in an environment where unusual temperature, noise, and hazards are relatively nonexistent. Work requires some lifting, pulling or pushing during normal tasks.
Pay Scale and Benefit DisclosureSalary is in accordance with the teacher salary schedule.
