Emotional Disturbance (ED) Teaching Position
The Valley View Public School District is seeking an individual to fill a full-time Emotional Disturbance (ED) teaching position for the school year. The teacher is responsible for planning and delivering instructional lessons that meet the needs of learners with moderate to severe behavior and emotional disabilities; creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning; and employing effective instructional techniques.
Additional duties may from time to time be assigned in accordance with provisions of the Board's policies and requirements.
Essential functions include designing high-content, engaging work for students, planning and instructing students on District and State Standards aligned curriculum, accommodating, modifying and adapting lessons and curriculum as needed to meet individual student needs and IEP Goals, establishing a safe, positive classroom environment that is conducive to learning, planning collaboratively with staff to develop specially designed instruction, modifying, adapting and conducting formal and informal assessments to evaluate student progress, setting and communicating clear expectations for classroom behavior and school environment, assisting in the development and implementation of student behavior intervention plans, communicating regularly with parents, other educators and students on progress, meeting regularly and working collaboratively with other teachers, parapros and specialists to discuss individual student's modifications or adaptations, attending and actively participating in building and District Teams to facilitate early involvement and resolution of academic or behavior concerns, collaborating with other staff in planning, modifying, enhancing and implementing curriculum, school and District goals and objectives, enforcing and supporting District and School policies, philosophies and objectives with students and parents, participating in staff development and school improvement activities in order to maintain professional growth, planning and implementing best practices and strategies, participating in events outside of the regularly scheduled work day, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications include current Illinois (PEL) Professional Educator License with a Special Education endorsement, expertise in behavior management strategies, Aggression Replacement Techniques, and CPI, ability to write and implement Individual Educational Plans (IEP's), excellent communications skills, and ability to work cooperatively with others.
Salary is in accordance with the teacher salary schedule. Benefits include medical/vision and dental coverage through BCBSIL, FSA and dependent daycare accounts, life, AD&D, and long term disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, salary advancement, TRS contribution included in base salary, and 403B.
