The Valley View Public School District is seeking an individual to fill a temporary science substitute guest teaching position for the school year. The position is for August 31, 2026 - December 3, 2026 at Romeoville High School.
The teacher is responsible to the building principal for planning instructional lessons that meet the needs, interests, and abilities of students; creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning; and employing effective instructional techniques.
Applicants must hold a State of Illinois (PEL) Professional Educator License with an endorsement in Science (chemistry preferred). Successful 9-12 teaching experience is preferred. Demonstrated skill in diagnosing, prescribing, assessing student learning, and appropriate recordkeeping is required. Knowledge of current teaching techniques is necessary. Applicants must be able to structure a classroom to maximize student learning. Applicants must be able to establish effective communication skills with a variety of stakeholders.
Willingness to participate in co-curricular programs as a sponsor, supervisor, or coach is required.
Long-term substitute teaching assignments exceeding 20 days: $215 per day.
