Sandvik Mining & Rock is recruiting for an Inventory Planner for our Romeoville, IL Office.
Job PurposeThe Inventory Planner role is responsible for ensuring optimal parts availability and operational efficiency through proactive inventory management and strategic planning. This role drives stock optimization by managing and analyzing inventory levels, supporting strategic stock processes, and safeguarding supply continuity. The planner will lead demand planning efforts, coordinate inventory redistribution and return strategies, and deliver accurate operational performance reporting. Additionally, the position requires developing and maintaining KPI dashboards using advanced tools to provide actionable insights that support data‑driven decision‑making and continuous improvement.
MainResponsibilities Enhance Customer Experience & Availability
Drive optimal fill rates through missed‑hit analysis and demand planning for standard assortment and strategic stock. Ensure stockrooms maintain a balanced Stock% of Invoicing and meet other key KPIs, including Inventory Value, Inventory Days, Fill Rate, and OSMI%.
Strategic Stock Reviews & ManagementOwn the process of managing and optimizing strategic stock within designated stockrooms to ensure long‑term availability and alignment with business objectives.
Manage Sales Stock & ObsolescenceOversee sales stock and obsolescence reserves within assigned stockrooms. Monitor goods in transit and production stock to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
Inventory Parameter OptimizationAnalyze and maintain inventory parameter settings for all responsible stockrooms, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Cross‑Functional CollaborationPartner with Logistics and Warehouse teams to address inventory‑impacting activities such as blocked stock and allocations.
Drive Stock Optimization InitiativesLead redistribution processes and OSMI reviews. Implement proactive measures aligned with Stock% targets through regular analysis and reporting. Prepare management summaries for approval of returns, scrapping, and centralization of slow‑ or non‑moving items.
Dashboard DevelopmentDesign and maintain dashboards using tools such as Microsoft Access, Power BI, Alteryx, Databricks, or VBA.
Problem‑Solving & Continuous ImprovementTroubleshoot inventory‑related issues and develop creative short‑ and long‑term solutions to improve customer service while reducing costs.
Supply Chain EfficiencyReview network settings and supply chain processes to identify and eliminate inefficiencies.
Project ParticipationSupport and contribute to regional and global initiatives or projects as required.
Your Profile- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in supply chain purchasing or planning.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, SAP, Logility, System 21, Aurora, Maximo.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Good general business acumen.
- Ability to travel regionally if required.

Pay is dependent on experience with a pay rate of $80,000–$95,000.
