The Senior Logistics & Transportation Coordinator will oversee transportation execution, freight management, carrier performance, export compliance, and logistics analytics to ensure products move safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively throughout the supply chain. This individual will serve as a key liaison between carriers, operations, finance, customer service, and distribution partners while helping drive transportation excellence across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage day-to-day transportation activities for domestic and international shipments, including FTL, LTL, and specialty freight movements.
- Monitor carrier performance, service levels, transit times, and delivery metrics to ensure customer expectations are met.
- Analyze freight costs, transportation trends, and operational data to identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
- Support transportation planning activities and proactively address supply chain disruptions or service challenges.
- Partner with transportation providers to maintain competitive service and pricing agreements.
- Lead carrier evaluation, qualification, and onboarding activities.
- Participate in carrier reviews, performance assessments, and corrective action initiatives.
- Collaborate with external logistics partners to improve delivery reliability and transportation efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with applicable transportation, hazardous materials, and export regulations.
- Maintain accurate export documentation and support international shipping requirements.
- Conduct denied-party screening activities and help ensure adherence to trade compliance standards.
- Support transportation audits and regulatory compliance initiatives.
- Develop and maintain transportation performance metrics, dashboards, and reporting tools.
- Utilize advanced Excel capabilities to analyze freight spending, service performance, and operational trends.
- Prepare actionable recommendations for leadership based on logistics data and key performance indicators.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, freight audits, and cost-reduction projects.
- Partner cross-functionally with operations, customer service, warehouse, and finance teams to improve logistics performance.
- Investigate transportation issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, cost optimization, and customer satisfaction.
- Assist with special projects and strategic supply chain initiatives as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree in logistics, transportation, or supply chain.
- IATF certification and experience supporting second-party supplier or carrier audits is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC), freight classifications, density-based rating structures, and LTL tariff methodologies.
- Working knowledge of U.S. DOT PHMSA hazardous materials transportation regulations.
- Demonstrated experience with U.S. export compliance, including export documentation, denied-party screening, and applicable trade requirements.
- Experience working with transportation carriers, freight providers, third-party logistics partners, or freight management operations.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, reporting, and trend analysis.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience utilizing ERP, TMS (Transportation Management Systems), or other logistics technology platforms.
- Background in a transportation or logistics role within a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization projects.
Compensation Range: $65,000 - $87,000
