General upkeep of the office building. Ensure the building(s) are clean and in orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties such as cleaning floors, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. Duties may include notifying management of the need for repairs, cleaning snow or debris from sidewalks, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, and performing small repair work. This position reports to the shift supervisor.

• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
• Gather and empty trash.
• Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
• Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
• Prepare cleaning solutions by mixing water and detergents or acids.
• Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
• Operate vehicles such as vans, industrial trucks, or industrial vacuum cleaners.
• Follow procedures for chemical cleaners and power equipment.
• Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies using hand trucks.
• Notify managers about major repairs or additions.
• Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas using snowplows, blowers, shovels, and spread melting chemicals.
• Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance.
• Spray insecticides and fumigants to prevent infestations.

• Basic knowledge of repair techniques or job training with experience as a custodian.

• Sanitation for food facilities.
• Finishing/refinishing floors.

• High school diploma or GED.

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 6 months of experience.

• Ability to read, analyze, and write; effectively follow orders and respond to management questions.
• Must communicate effectively in English.

• Occasionally reach, lift, or move up to 50 pounds.
• Crouch or crawl under a 48‑inch high shelf; ascend/descent a 14‑inch step.
• Operate phone systems using keyboards and buttons.
• Regularly work indoors; required to sit and perform repetitive hand motions.
• Stand and walk frequently.
• Work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required.
• Have 20/20 corrected vision to read and discern visual images.
• Speak and communicate clearly over telephones.
• Be in sound physical health, as determined by a licensed physician; no controlled substances use.

• Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
• Noise level ranges from quiet to moderately loud.
