Overview
SATO America is seeking a detail‑oriented, service‑focused Press Operator.
The role involves performing complex printing jobs, including setup and troubleshooting for each job, producing products in a highly efficient manner aligned with business goals and KPI’s while meeting the highest possible quality standards.
Duties & Responsibilities- Operate, set‑up, and troubleshoot flexographic printing presses and auxiliary equipment in accordance with production standards and productivity goals.
- Utilize product specifications (copy card), change plates, cylinders, and dies.
- Perform basic maintenance, including lubricants and minor part replacement; request major maintenance when necessary.
- Maintain work area using 5S methods.
- Report machine and equipment malfunctions immediately to the group leader, maintenance, or supervisor.
- Accurately complete all required paperwork in a timely manner.
- Cross‑train and work on multiple press lines and equipment as needed.
Follow all quality inspection plans, measuring, checking, and testing various processes and product parameters. Meet established goals for material scrap and yield.
CollaborationCollaborate with plant leadership and departments such as engineering, procurement, customer service, and logistics to coordinate production activities, address technical issues, standardize processes, and optimize supply chain processes.
Process ImprovementIdentify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction. Support all continuous improvement initiatives as required through participation and/or implementation.
Health and Safety Compliance- Operate machines safely and efficiently in accordance with established rules and regulations.
- Follow and comply with health and safety regulations.
- Report any unsafe condition(s), injury, or accident immediately to the immediate supervisor or other member of management.
- Provide improvement suggestions as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by floor or plant leadership.
Education and/or
Experience:
Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills and Abilities:
Ability to perform basic math functions and use a ruler is a must. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English in order to communicate effectively with co‑workers and to follow instructions. Ability to focus on objects, have good vision and differentiate colors as determined by color blindness testing. Strong mechanical aptitude.
The employee must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds and may lift over 50 pounds with mechanical devices.
Work Environment- Contact with moving mechanical systems is the norm.
- Exposure to non‑hazardous fumes may occur.
- The noise level may be loud; hearing protection may be recommended or required.
- Eye protection may be recommended or required.
- Contact with certain chemicals may occur; these chemicals include both hazardous and non‑hazardous chemicals.
