Ammonia Refrigeration Technician - 1st Shift

We are looking for an Ammonia Technician to operate, monitor, and maintain industrial ammonia refrigeration systems supporting high-volume food production, perform maintenance on high-pressure boilers, air compressors and air handlers, service HVAC and refrigeration equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations, and troubleshoot mechanical and refrigeration issues to minimize downtime.

Key duties include:

• Operate, monitor, and maintain industrial ammonia refrigeration systems.
• Perform maintenance on high-pressure boilers, air compressors, and air handlers.
• Service HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and refrigeration issues to minimize downtime.
• Follow and enforce IIAR, OSHA, and plant safety procedures.
• Perform work duties independently and report to supervisor.
• Possess background in low voltage, 480‑volt electric systems.
• Recognize when the refrigeration system is out of parameters and take corrective action.
• Welding and fabrication, full understanding of 3‑phase electrical, three‑phase motor controls, troubleshoot AC & DC drives.

• Completed or currently pursuing a 2‑year trades degree, or 4 years of plant maintenance experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English (bilingual a plus).
• Strong communication skills with Sanitation Manager, line workers, leads, supervisors and plant manager.
• Legible record‑keeping and data entry skills.
• Highly motivated, flexible, and creative problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Manufacturing environment – exposure to machines, noise levels, and varying temperatures.
• Depending on location, environments can be very warm or refrigerated.
• Team environment – work well with others, respectful and professional communication.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
• May be required to work weekend and night hours.

Starting pay:
Ammonia Technician $39.00/hour. Shift differential offered for 3rd shift opportunities. Full‑time employees benefit from health, dental, 401(k), and wellness benefits beginning on the 90th day of employment.
