Must-Have Skills
  • PLC and VFD troubleshooting experience
  • Ability to troubleshoot low and high voltage electrical systems
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with industrial production equipment
  • Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance experience
  • Experience working with 110V, 230V, and 460V systems
Job Summary

Seeking a hands‑on Controls Maintenance Technician to support troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance activities within a manufacturing environment. This role will focus heavily on electrical controls, PLCs, VFDs, and production equipment reliability while supporting safe and efficient plant operations. Candidates with strong industrial electrical troubleshooting skills and minor PLC/VFD programming experience are encouraged to apply.

Job Duties
  • Troubleshoot and repair production and packaging equipment
  • Diagnose and repair electrical systems including motors, relays, starters, timers, breakers, and control panels
  • Perform minor PLC and VFD programming and troubleshooting
  • Support setup, repair, and maintenance of conveyors, baggers, check‑weighers, barcode systems, and related equipment
  • Read and interpret electrical control schematics for troubleshooting purposes

    Perform preventative maintenance, equipment lubrication, and rebuild activities
  • Fabricate parts and modify equipment as needed
  • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and minimize downtime
  • Ensure equipment readiness prior to production startup
  • Maintain compliance with safety programs including lockout/tagout procedures
  • Assist with coaching and training maintenance and operations personnel
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 4–5+ years of industrial maintenance experience preferred, though strong recent technical school graduates with hands‑on experience will also be considered
  • Food manufacturing experience is preferred but not required
  • Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in refrigerated or elevated environments as needed
