SUMMARY
A press operator will perform complex printing jobs, including set‑up and troubleshooting for each job. The press operator will produce products in a highly efficient manner in alignment with business goals and KPI’s to the highest possible quality standards.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Technical Duties:
- Operate, set‑up, and troubleshoot flexographic printing presses and auxiliary equipment, all in accordance with production standards and productivity goals.
- Including: utilization of product specs (copy card), changing plates, cylinders, and dies.
- Maintain machines by performing basic maintenance including lubricants, replace minor parts, and requests major maintenance when necessary.
- Maintain work area utilizing 5S methods.
- Report machine and equipment malfunctions immediately to the group leader, maintenance, and/or supervisor.
- Accurately complete all required paperwork in a timely manner.
- Cross‑train and work multiple press lines and equipment as needed.
- Quality Control:
Follow all quality inspection plans. This involves measuring, checking, and testing various processes and product parameters. Meet established goals for material scrap and yield. - Collaboration:
Collaborate with all plant leadership and departments such as engineering, procurement, customer service, and logistics to coordinate production activities, address technical issues, standardize processes, and optimize supply chain processes. - Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction. Support all continuous improvement initiatives as required via participation and or implementation. - Health and Safety Compliance:
- Operate machines in a safe, efficient manner in accordance with established rules and regulations.
- Follow and comply with health and safety regulations.
- Report any unsafe condition(s), injury, or accident immediately to immediate supervisor or other member of management.
- Provide improvement suggestions as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by floor or plant leadership.

Education And/Or ExperienceAssociate degree (AA) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
OtherSkills And Abilities
Ability to perform basic math functions and use a ruler is a must. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English in order to communicate effectively with co‑workers, and to follow instructions.
The ability to focus on objects, have good vision and be able to differentiate colors as determined by color blindness testing. Strong mechanical aptitude needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSAt minimum, the individual must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds and beyond 50 lbs with mechanical devices.
WORK ENVIRONMENT- Contact with moving mechanical systems is the norm
- Exposure to non‑hazardous fumes may occur
- The noise level may be loud and hearing protection may be recommended or required
- Eye protection may be recommended or required
- Contact with certain chemicals may occur; these chemicals include both hazardous and non‑hazardous chemicals
