This full‑time LPN / Special Education Paraprofessional position supports district nurses and the Health Services Coordinator in health‑related tasks, working in both the health office and general/special educational settings. The role provides support to students with significant disabilities and health concerns in the classroom and across the building, including toileting, feeding, following health care plans, assistance with lifting, and other medical services.
EssentialFunctions / Responsibilities
- Assist building nurses and district Health Service Coordinator with a variety of health‑related tasks.
- Collaborate with the building nurse to implement student health care plans.
- Provide support to students with significant disabilities or medical needs within the classroom and/or around the building.
- Assist with communication, scheduling, and implementation of health service plans.
- Deliver health services to students and staff under the direction of the District Health Services Coordinator or building nurse.
- Assess the health and developmental status of selected students.
- Work cooperatively with other School Assessment Team members to assess health needs related to learning.
- Conduct compliance checks for immunization and Department of Health laws.
- Supervise proper medication administration procedures.
- Provide adequate care of ill and injured children.
- Offer student and parent health counseling.
- Comply with laws regarding suspected child abuse.
- Attend health services staff meetings.
- Perform additional duties related to planning, organizing, directing, and accomplishing goals and objectives of the Health Services Program as requested by the Principal and Assistant Principal.
- Carry out all additional duties as requested by the Principal and Assistant Principal.
- Statement of Approval from the Will County Regional Office of Education to serve as a teacher aide with license registered in Will County.
- Current CPR certification.
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification/background.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of health/medical materials and techniques.
- Initiative to follow through with assigned tasks.
- Ability to serve as a role model for students and staff, creating a conducive learning environment.
- Physical exam and negative T.B. test required.
- Physical ability to maneuver and support students.
Work performed in an environment with normal temperature, noise, and hazards. Students may require toileting, feeding, and lifting.
Pay Scale and Benefit DisclosureSalary aligns with the Paraprofessional Salary Schedule. IMRF contribution is included in base salary.

Salary and work year: 181 days, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between Valley View Council and the Board of Education. FLSA Non‑Exempt. Physical exam and negative Tuberculosis test required.
