Forklift Operator, Material Handler
Overview
An Equipment Operator is responsible for the daily distribution activities, productivity, and quality within the assigned area(s) of a distribution facility. The role requires demonstrating safety, quality, and productivity performance and operational expertise. At least 60% of the work is performed using a forklift or PIT.
Primary Responsibilities- Perform loading, unloading, and picking of product and materials using powered lifting equipment, such as stock picker, sit‑down/stand‑up equipment, or reach truck.
- Contribute to a safe work environment through continuous focus on housekeeping and safety.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the company’s core values.
- Interact with supervisors, leads, and work groups to exchange information related to immediate tasks.
- Participate in the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives for the distribution process.
- Work in a fast‑paced, metric‑driven environment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of related warehouse experience.
- Basic ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, in English.
- Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication).
- Basic computer skills: navigating the internet, using a keyboard, and saving documents.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 70 pounds regularly, up to 150 pounds infrequently.
- Ability to push, pull, grasp, and manipulate equipment with hands throughout the work shift.
- Capability to walk on uneven surfaces when necessary.
- Successful completion of the Office Depot Forklift Operator licensing program.
- Familiarity with warehouse information systems.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, starting early and/or staying until the work is complete.
- Demonstrated teamwork, attendance, quality, and productivity.
- Self‑directed and proactive.
- Prior forklift driving experience preferred.
The salary range for this role is 18.06 to 18.06, with compliance to state and local minimum wages. The company offers a competitive package, including a 401(k) plan and an incentive program as outlined in the Incentive Plan terms and conditions.
