Overview

Job Title: Inventory Control Lead

Job Purpose: The Inventory Control Lead is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of workers concerned with inventorying materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts in stockrooms, warehouses, or yards.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain layout of stockroom, warehouse, and other storage areas, considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors in items stored.
  • Study records and recommend remedial actions for reported non-usable, slow-moving, and excess stock.
  • Review records for accuracy and compliance with procedures, and determine adequacy of stock levels.
  • Schedule work for special and periodic inventories.
  • Prepare composite reports from individual Inventory Specialist reports.
  • Trace item history to determine reasons for discrepancies and recommend remedial actions to resolve them.
  • Issue written or oral instructions and expedite workflow with team members.
  • Assign duties and inspect work for accuracy, neatness, and policy compliance.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the manager.
  • Travel to assist other facilities as needed and have reliable transportation.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Physically count articles or products on shelves, racks, and pallets.
  • Utilize computer terminals to account for inventory issues, returns, and documentation.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of related inventory control experience and/or training.
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years of related warehouse experience.
  • Experience operating a forklift and cherry picker/high lift.
  • Experience using WMS software (Synapse preferred).
  • Working knowledge of inventory control practices; KPI reporting; coordinating cycle count programs; product rotation.
  • PC literacy with experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access Database.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to physically count articles or products on shelves, racks, and pallets.
Language and Skills
  • Must be able to effectively communicate, read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
Math and Reasoning
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic and interpret data, rates, ratios, and percentages; able to read and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and determine root causes and corrective actions.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and to communicate clearly over telephones.
  • Regularly works in an indoor/office environment and may require repetitive hand motions.
  • May work in excess of 8 hours as needed; ability to work under stressful situations with good cognitive skills and focus on multiple tasks.
