School-based paraprofessional substitutes are needed to provide essential support to students near Romulus, MI. As a school paraprofessional substitute, you will:
- Support students academically, behaviorally, and socially within classroom environments
- Provide 1:1 or small-group assistance, following the guidance of teachers and educational staff
- Aid students with classroom routines, daily transitions, and active participation in learning activities
- Implement behavior support plans and adhere to IEPs as required
- Assist with mobility, supervision, and personal care for students who need additional support
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for all students
To work in this role, you must:
- Hold a high school diploma or GED
- Possess one of the following: an active Para Pro certification, a Substitute Teaching certification, or a minimum of 36 college credits
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be able to provide a district-required TB test
- Demonstrate the ability to stand, walk, and assist with lifting as needed
- Have current clearances or be willing to obtain them before starting
Preferred experience includes background in education, special needs support, behavioral health, or child care. Experience with autism, behavioral challenges, CPI, PMT, or RBT training is a plus, along with a reliable, collaborative attitude.
