Qualifications:
A valid Michigan teaching certificate with an art endorsement (LQ, LX, or LZ for Grades 6-12). Major or Minor in Specified Content Area (Minor must have passed the Specified Content Area - MTTC Test). Teaching experience in a multi-cultural setting. Knowledge of Common Core Art Content Standards, experience unwrapping the standards, and/or experience determining power standards, preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of multiple intervention strategies with individuals and groups.
Familiar with best practice and procedures for art education to establish a quality middle school art program. Experience with mastery learning / OBE outcome strategies. Awareness of the physical, social, emotional, and mental development of the learner. Proficient and knowledgeable in the subject area. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, parents, and staff. Strong communication and organizational skills.
Knowledge of data and how it is used to inform instruction. Proficient with technology as an instructional tool.
Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and implement instruction and assessments. Honor and carry out district initiatives. Participate in professional development opportunities and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning. Contributing member to a professional learning community. Communicate student progress and development with parents and staff. Provide a flexible, stable, and pleasant learning environment that is child-centered while maintaining appropriate classroom management. Demonstrate creative and innovative lesson plans that contribute to a highly engaged learning community.
Ability to demonstrate judgment, decision-making, conflict management, and resolution. Perform other duties as assigned.
