The Automotive Studio Engineer acts as the technical bridge between vehicle design and engineering, ensuring that creative design concepts are feasible, manufacturable, and compliant with performance, safety, and regulatory requirements. This role collaborates closely with designers, engineers, suppliers, and manufacturing teams from concept through production.
What you'll do:- Lead and collaborate with automotive designers to translate styling concepts into feasible engineering solutions.
- Development of studio properties seating and vehicle bucks.
- Evaluate design proposals for manufacturability, cost, performance, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and manage surface data, packaging layouts, and engineering constraints.
- Support concept, prototype, and production phases of vehicle development.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (body, interior, exterior).
- Work with suppliers to develop components that meet design and engineering requirements.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, quality targets, and customer design guidelines.
- Support and lead customer design reviews, issue resolution, and change management processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
- 3–8 years of experience in automotive studio engineering or vehicle development.
- Strong understanding of automotive design, vehicle packaging, and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in CAD tools (CATIA V5, Teamcenter) advantageous.
- Knowledge of GD&T, materials, and tooling processes.
- Ability to interpret Class A surface data and engineering drawings.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
