Lab Technician

Overview

Bodycote is the worlds largest provider of thermal processing services. This position is located in Romulus, Michigan. Bodycote is an Equal Opportunity Employer. This role is safety-sensitive due to the nature of our business and a heavy industrial market.

• Review paperwork to verify information and testing to be done.
• Prepare parts and equipment for testing procedures.
• Conduct testing as required and report any non-conformance to the manager.
• Accurately complete required paperwork and follow through as required.
• Practice and promote safety and good housekeeping.
• Perform other tasks as designated by the position.
• Care for and protect customers inventory; perform duties safely and responsibly to prevent loss or damage.
• Report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.

• Labor type:
  Lab Technician C
• Shift & Training: 6:00 am 2:30 pm for 90 days of training, then 2:00 pm 10:30 pm, Monday-Friday; weekends as required.
• Schedule note:
  Full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and basic physical.

• Education:
  
  High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year in a lab or related position.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and specifications.
• Basic knowledge of metallurgy, heat treating, inspection, and related subjects.
• Ability to use RC hardness tester and other testing equipment as required.
• Computer experience and a good understanding of basic math; knowledge of Microsoft Office and databases.
• May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends.
• Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

• Work in a standing position for extended periods in an industrial environment.
• Manual dexterity for data entry; ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach.
• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Potential exposure to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity.
• Ability to communicate effectively, read documents and screens, and hear in person and over the phone.
