Job SummaryThe Commodity Inventory Controller is responsible for allocation of a designated commodity across all sites, evaluating and communicating to the Unit Manager of Commodities and the designated commodity Category Manager, and ensuring accurate product allocation to fill customer sales requests.
Duties and Responsibilities- Create product allocations based on customer specifications and inventory levels
- Monitor product quality to meet customer requirements and specifications
- Ensure allocations are distributed, updated throughout the day, and executed with Production
- Check product quality in inventory and maintain communication with the Quality team on inbound product
- Provide feedback to production and quality departments on accuracy of product grading and quality concerns
- Liaise with commodities Category Manager concerning inbound product or quality issues on outbound product
- Communicate with production supervisors and scheduler about allocations and changing priorities to meet delivery deadlines
- Coordinate communication of customers’ expectations with production, shipping, and receiving
- Other core expectations defined by the company
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post‑secondary education preferred
- Minimum one year of inventory management and/or quality assurance experience in the produce industry preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); knowledge of ERP software, Famous® preferred
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Health and Safety, Food Safety preferred
- Capacity to build and maintain relationships aligned with company objectives
- Proven ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with keen attention to detail and consistency
- Exceptional analytical and organizational skills essential; results‑oriented and able to prioritize workflow
- Sound decision‑making skills and ability to work in a high‑stress environment
- Understand urgency while providing outstanding customer service
- Strong attention to detail in a high‑stress, fast‑paced environment
- Hours of work may vary; flexibility required
- Typical office setting within a refrigerated warehouse (45‑55°F); noise level can be loud due to packaging machinery and forklift operation
- Requires ability to listen and speak to other employees
- Uses standard office equipment (computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines); vision requirements; work in front of computer, prolonged sitting
- Requires standing, walking, bending, twisting, handling products or packaging, and reaching with hands and arms
- May involve lifting up to 30 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds
