Maintenance Technician

PGS Worldwide is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Ronkonkoma, New York for an approximately nine-month onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will perform facility, machinery, and equipment maintenance with a strong focus on mechanical and pneumatic systems. The technician will inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment while working from drawings, schematics, blueprints, and other technical documentation.

Required Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 10+ years of maintenance experience in the aerospace industry or a related industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems.
• Strong knowledge of pneumatic systems.
• Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment.
• Ability to work safely on and around high-pressure and combustible gas systems.
• Experience using hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, layouts, and specifications.
• Ability to work independently and safely with minimal supervision.
• Experience working with mechanical devices and industrial equipment.
• Ability to clearly document and communicate work performed.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a maintenance and operations team.
• Flexibility to adjust work hours, including arriving early, staying late, or adjusting breaks when operational needs require.
• U.S. citizenship required.

Preferred Skills

• Soldering experience.
• Welding experience.
• Brazing experience.
• Experience supporting aerospace manufacturing or production facilities.
• Experience with electrical, plumbing, carpentry, sheet-metal fabrication, painting, or other industrial maintenance trades.

What You’ll Do

• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on plant equipment, machinery, and facility systems.
• Inspect equipment and facilities to identify maintenance and repair requirements.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and pneumatic equipment failures.
• Repair machinery and equipment using appropriate hand and power tools.
• Support maintenance of high-pressure and combustible gas systems.
• Conduct routine, periodic, and special equipment inspections.
• Identify conditions that could lead to machinery or facility breakdowns.
• Read and work from drawings, schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
• Support maintenance activities involving mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, sheet metal, and related trades as required.
• Document completed maintenance and repair activities.
• Coordinate with other technicians, production personnel, and facility teams to minimize equipment downtime.
• Maintain safe work practices in a dynamic industrial environment.

Work Schedule / Shift

• Full-time onsite in Ronkonkoma, New York.
• First shift.
• 9/80A schedule.
• Typical hours approximately 7:30 AM–4:00 or 5:00 PM.
• No travel required.

Pay

• $42.53 per hour.
