To own and manage all post-production despatch operations, ensuring customers receive their orders on time, in full and in the required condition. You will lead and develop the despatch team to work efficiently alongside production, planning and customer service, while maintaining world-class packing standards for all internal goods movements and keeping despatch costs firmly under control.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Control the despatch and documentation of all finished goods, flat sheet and any other sold products
- Ensure delivery notes, pick notes and proof of delivery documentation are accurately controlled at all times
- Manage the entire despatch staff complement, including shift scheduling and overtime planning
- Ensure each team member has the input tools and resources required to successfully execute their tasks
- Drive team performance, foster employee growth and ensure all strategic goals are met
- Conduct quarterly one-on-one discussions with Despatch Coaches to review performance and identify requirements for change
- Manage disciplinary procedures for all reporting staff
- Ensure despatch OTIF is maintained at or above 95%
- Sit in on daily planning team meetings and provide despatch feedback on OTIF order lines whilst reviewing the following day's plans
- Own and manage all finished goods stock adjustments and stock adjustment requests
- Manage default locations and aged stock
- Control and manage part orders
- Maintain safe levels of empty pallet stock
- Control forklift costs in partnership with the Asset Care department.
- Manage and coordinate transport to ensure reliable, cost‑effective, and compliant delivery operations
- Optimise truck utilisation and payload efficiency to reduce costs and improve overall fleet performance
- Plan and schedule deliveries and routes to ensure on‑time dispatch, smooth workflow, and excellent customer service
- Conduct performance reviews, monitoring and feedback for the team
- Conduct skill and competence analysis and establish gaps that should fill on individual basis
- Determine Training needs for individual’s basis on the skill and competence gaps
- Train or organise training for staff in line with the training and established training needs
- Knowledge of transport and production

- Ability to persuade and motivate various team members from different backgrounds
- Proactive and dynamic approach to a changing environment

- Ensure accurate reporting on stock on hand/ stock losses/ stock outs and availability
- Sporadic project planning and execution, on schedule and within budget
- Previous experience and understanding of ERP systems. Modules the candidate has experience in will be significant
- Able to do moderate analysis of data using MS Excel
- Working closely with the Planner
- Matric
- National Diploma (NQF Level
6) in the field of Logistics or Supply Chain Management/related - Bachelor’s Degree in the similar filed will be an advantage
- 2 Years’ experience in distribution at a supervisory or management level
