Janitor - DSP (DHS) – Sunrise Enterprises Inc.
This position is based at the DHS facility in Roseburg. It trains and supervises individuals with disabilities to work in a janitorial environment. The role involves providing commercial janitorial services in a team environment, including cleaning, mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, restroom cleaning, carpet shampooing, window washing, trash collection, and maintaining hard floor surfaces. It also supports staff in training and case management of trainees.

- At least one year’s experience working with adults with I/DD in an employment setting, two years’ experience in janitorial, and one year experience as a supervisor preferred; acceptable combinations of education and experience are considered.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work with limited supervision, displaying initiative and creativity.
- Capacity to follow directions and work independently as well as in groups.
- Compassionate and respectful treatment of persons with physical/mental disabilities.
- Minimum age 18.
- Valid Oregon driver’s license and insurable by Sunrise insurance carrier.
- Pass criminal history check (may include fingerprints and CJIS background check).
- Pass drug screen including marijuana/THC.
- Obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
- Proven, stable employment history with good work ethic, attendance, and punctuality.
- Provide commercial janitorial services within prescribed time limits, including cleaning, mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, restroom cleaning, carpet shampooing, window washing, trash collection, floor maintenance, and use of cleaning products.
- Help control costs of contracts through efficient labor and material use, properly accounting for materials and chemicals.
- Inform supervisor timely when materials or products need replenishment.
- Maintain and ensure security at DHS facilities.
- Serve as a role model for appropriate work behaviors, social skills, respect for others, and cooperation.
- Use tools, equipment, and supplies safely, following corporate procedures and safety protocols.
- Understand proper use of chemicals and SDSs and follow safety protocols.
- Follow existing quality control measures for product or service output.
- Complete duties and tasks assigned by supervisor within reasonable time.
- Maintain agency records professionally in accordance with guidelines.
- Attend and participate in required meetings, trainings, and committees.
- Do not exceed authority delegated by supervisor.
- Exercise good judgment in situations not specifically covered by policy.
- Participate in safety programs.
- Maintain work area in a clean, safe condition.
- Report safety hazards, accidents, incidents of neglect, abuse, emergencies, or problems to supervisor or appropriate person per policy.
- Submit timesheets and documentation accurately and timely.
- Meet regular attendance requirements; reliable attendance is required.
- Assure quality of Sunrise employment services.
- Serve as a role model for behavior, social skills, respect, and cooperation.
- Follow all trainee protocols, including training, employment, medical, and behavioral supports.
- Provide transportation to trainees as needed.
- Complete and provide evidence of training to meet state Direct Support Professional requirements.
- Maintain professional boundaries with trainees; notify supervisor of any conflicts of interest.
- Assist trainees in acquiring and developing skills, behaviors, attitudes, and personal characteristics for effective work performance.
- Assist Employment Services staff in case management of trainees as directed, including goal setting and training to maximize employment potential.
- Ensure job stations for trainees are set up prior to their shift and keep materials flowing to job stations.
- Experience working with adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
- Previous janitorial experience.
