Position Title: Entry Level Production Associate (Mentor Trainee)
Reports To: Department Supervisor
Department: General Plant
Hours per shift: 10‑hour shifts with three 10‑minute breaks and a 30‑minute unpaid lunch. Shifts include weekday and swing schedules to meet production needs.
Position
Purpose:
The Mentor Trainee position provides training in entry‑level production roles so that when positions open, the company has trained operators ready to perform duties. Mentors may cross‑train in other departments as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Learn and perform tasks in assigned production department (e.g., Sticker Operator, Bander/Endwax, Paperwrap, Stacker, Sawmill Sorter, Dispatch).
- Assist co‑workers or maintenance personnel with basic maintenance procedures.
- Complete assigned duties and support overall production flow.

Essential Functions:
Perform additional duties and functions as assigned for production and cleaning purposes.
Working Environment: Predominantly indoor (≈90%); temperatures range from 10°F to 120°F. Noise and vibration from machines; requires standing on a slightly elevated wooden platform with rubber mats. Dust exposure is limited; the work area has adequate ventilation.

- High‑visibility clothing
Physical Demands: Constant use of hearing and vision; frequent bending, twisting, pushing/pulling, reaching, and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. The role requires standing for most of the shift and occasional walking on level or uneven surfaces.
Skills: Excellent hand–eye coordination; continuous use of vision and hearing; peripheral vision to detect forklifts and co‑workers; reading and speaking ability for safety training and communication; self‑directed task completion; ability to prioritize and make decisions.
Safety: Follow lockout/tagout procedures, maintain proper body mechanics, use appropriate PPE, communicate with co‑workers, and read/write during safety training.
