Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring an active OR or Compact RN license and specific L&D and OR skills.
Responsibilities- Work in the Labor & Delivery/Postpartum/Mother-Baby unit within an acute care hospital
- Unit has 9 L&D beds, 1 OR suite, 2 triage beds, and 4 postpartum beds
- Average of 850-900 births per year with ratios following AWHONN guidelines
- Patients include LDRP, obstetrical emergencies, hypertension, and hemorrhage cases
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts, with every other weekend or one weekend per schedule based on seniority
- Two 12-hour call shifts required every 4 weeks
- Closed unit unless emergency measures require floating
- MEDITECH EMR used; experience preferred
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (GE Centricity)
- Scrubs are provided and must be purple
- Responsibilities include managing laboring patients, assisting in cesarean sections, postpartum care, and recognizing and responding to obstetric emergencies
- OB Techs are present for support, with both charge nurse and house supervisor available
- OB/Neonatologist not in-house 24/7
- Telemetry available with RNs interpreting strips in OB
- 12-hour unit-specific orientation is provided for all new hires
- Holiday coverage based on ONA contract requirements
- Returning travelers must not have worked directly for any Common Spirit-related facility within the past year
- First-time travelers are considered
- Active OR RN license or Compact State (NLC) license required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of recent L&D RN experience required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and STABLE
- Must have experience circulating and/or scrubbing in the OR for cesarean sections
- Ability to titrate drips such as Pitocin, LR, Fentanyl, and Labatelol
- Must provide two professional references (one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years)
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
