Position SummaryLeads and develops teams by teaching training, actively listening, and providing feedback. Communicates with all levels of associates regarding store operations, technology, merchandising, and company initiatives. Implements change efforts, sets clear expectations, and models customer service standards using the One Best Way (OBW) service model. Drives financial performance by reviewing profit/loss statements, budgeting, forecasting, and controlling expenses. Provides supervision and development opportunities for hourly associates, hiring, training, mentoring, and assigning duties.
Ensures compliance with company policies and promotes a culture of belonging, integrity, and continuous improvement.
- Lead and develop teams effectively by teaching training and actively listening to associates touring stores.
- Communicate and collaborate with all levels of associates regarding store operations, utilizing technology, business initiatives, merchandising, and company direction.
- Introduce and lead company change efforts, providing clear expectations and guidance to implement business solutions.
- Model and demonstrate exceptional customer service standards to store associates following the One Best Way OBW service model.
- Manage and support customer service initiatives such as community outreach programs and resolve customer needs and complaints effectively.
- Drive the financial performance and sales of the designated store area by reviewing profit/loss statements and managing budgeting, forecasting, and expense control.
- Oversee merchandise presentation, seasonal transitions, inventory flow, and operational processes.
- Mitigate shrink, ensure sales and profit goals are achieved, and implement action plans to improve processes.
- Provide supervision and development opportunities: hire, train, mentor, assign duties, set expectations, provide recognition.
- Build high‑performing teams, embrace differences, and create a culture of belonging.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, values, and ethical standards.
- Act with integrity and uphold Walmart values.
- Serve customers and members by delivering results and applying the EDLP and EDLC business models.
- Make data‑based decisions balancing short‑term and long‑term priorities.
- 2 years of college OR 1 year retail experience and 1 year supervisory experience OR 2 years general work experience and 1 year supervisory experience.
- For firearms facilities: successful completion of a firearms‑specific Criminal Background Check (CBC) and Firearms Authorized Training.
- For ammunition‑only facilities: may require a current state‑issued Certificate of Eligibility.
- Mandatory attendance and successful completion of all job‑required trainings and assessments (e.g., Academy trainings, Open Door trainings).
- Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Leadership (Live Better U or Bellevue University).
- Experience supervising 5+ direct reports with performance management, mentoring, hiring, and firing responsibilities.
