Youth Partner Opportunity

Adapt Integrated Health Care is looking for a qualified Youth Partner to join their team! Monday-Friday.

The Youth Partner provides peer support to youth enrolled in services at Adapt Integrated Health Care's Intensive In-home Behavioral Health Treatment (IIBHT). The Youth Partner works to assist youth to successfully engage and participate in treatment services and supports. Services provided by a Youth Partner includes a wide range of supports, services, and advocacy that contribute to the growth of self-reliance.

In general, a youth partner is a peer support specialist with the ability to use personal life (lived) experience as well as professional knowledge/skills to teach, empower, advocate for, role model to and support the young people within a variety of settings including, but not limited to, self-help groups, outreach services, individual and family team meetings and therapy. These services may be provided at home, in the community, treatment facilities, offices, schools, and other related locations at the youth's discretion.

The youth partner may also support the Douglas County System of Care with increasing youth voice and reducing the barriers to youth in receiving mental health treatments and care.

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Peer Support Specialist Certification and Traditional Health Worker Certification required.
• Must have lived experience as a youth who has experienced mental, emotional and/or behavioral health problems and/or has had multiple child systems services involvement.
• At time of appointment, must possess valid driver's license.
• 21+ and possess a valid driver's license.

• Utilize personal and professional life experience to provide peer support to youth served by Adapt Integrated Health Care
• Provide information, training and support to youth to empower them to fully engage in services and supports.
• Participate in IIBHT meetings to assure youth access, voice, and choice.
• Learn the youth's story, strengths, needs and cultural prospective and serve as bridge to ensure that the youth and providers understand each other's perspective.
• Provide support and model self-advocacy in a variety of settings; settings included but not limited to:
  Child and Family Team Meetings, Schools, Courtroom, Child Welfare reunification planning, Treatment Reviews (inpatient and outpatient), Other medical/therapeutic appointments
• Empower young people to articulate their concerns and needs effectively;
• Maintain local resource information and educate young people in resource research to enhance their independence;
• Support the development and connection of young people to natural supports within their community;
• Model effective coping techniques.
• Produce and maintain accurate and timely documentation.
• Understand and follow all HIPPA guidelines regarding personal medical information.
• Utilize tact and diplomacy when discussing sensitive personal information.
• Provide a consistent source of encouragement and hope while also providing non-judgmental, unconditional support to youth.
• Provide services in a culturally and linguistically responsive manner.
• Increase the involvement of youth in mental health advisory committee meetings, steering committees, and the Douglas County System of Care governance bodies.
• Further local efforts of outreach, engagement, training, and support of youth who will be involved in advocacy and are willing to share their experiences with policy makers.
• Collaborate with youth organizations to enhance consumer voice and representation in consumer mental health.
• Consistently and thoroughly communicate with supervisor, team members and other pertinent staff of the youth's status, and the needs and concerns of his/her engagement.
• Participate in regular peer support supervisions.
• Attends relevant staff meetings and trainings as assigned.
• Implement the regulations, policies, and procedures which pertain to peer-delivered services
