Position Title:
Career Coach (Business & Employment Specialist
2) – Limited Duration Position in Roseburg
- Receive referrals from ODHS for the JOBS services.
- Career Coaches will meet with individuals to assess job seeker's transferable skills, interests, challenges, and employment goals.
- Provide services which may include access to work experience opportunities, High School/GED support and services, training, and other work-based programs.
- Identify barriers to successful job search and explore possible solutions to remove the barriers.
- Conduct talent development workshops to teach essential skills for work readiness or career pathway opportunities.
- Refer individuals to Roseburg Work Source workshops and activities and provide access to full services for Oregonians.
- Work with program data systems to track activities, attendance, and progress.
- Two years of experience providing customer service, which included requesting and reviewing information, documentation, and deciding an action based on the information. Examples of qualifying experience are eligibility interviewer, application examiner, unemployment insurance, examination proctor, information clerk, insurance aide, public counter intake person, employment and claims aide, employment services, job placement, recruiter, vocational guidance, or retail industry if it involved the above stated experience.
- Two years of education or experience; listed above are examples of acceptable experience.
- 45‑quarter (30‑semester) college‑level credits in Human Resources, Vocational or Career Counseling, Social Services, Psychology, Education, Business or Public Administration, Communication or related field substitute for one year of experience.
- To provide program coverage, travel to ODHS offices and satellite offices is required.
- An Oregon Employment Department vehicle may be provided for use to alternate locations, but a personal vehicle may be needed if no state vehicle is available, with mileage reimbursement from base office.

Ability to professionally interact with a high volume of diverse customers providing service that exceeds the customers’ expectations. - Work with individuals who may have limited work experience, higher support needs or need coaching as they prepare for training and employment opportunities. Demonstrated ability to be open to new experiences, seeking both positive and negative feedback, looking back on past experiences, and considering alternate courses of action, and finding patterns and order in complex information. - Multi-tasking:
Ability to attend to multiple tasks simultaneously and enthusiastically, deliver high‑quality work on time. - Attention to Detail:
Ability to accurately document case notes, services and track customer data into spreadsheets. - Ability to Efficiently and Effectively Use Data:
Use critical thinking, and analytical reasoning to gather information and apply laws, rules and policies to solve problems and make decisions.
