Overview

This role delivers full banking services at the branch, including depository accounts, lending products, and credit/debit card services. You provide friendly, accurate service while promoting products that help members achieve their financial goals.

Responsibilities
  • Provide professional, courteous, and timely customer service in a busy branch environment.
  • Open, maintain, and service depository accounts (checking, savings, certificates, IRAs, revocable trust, and estate accounts), ensuring accuracy and compliance with branch procedures.
  • Support members with lending products and card services by answering questions, processing basic requests, and referring complex needs to specialists.
  • Handle cash transactions accurately, including deposits, withdrawals, payments, and check cashing, and balance the cash drawer at shift end.
  • Perform data entry and administrative tasks related to account management and record keeping using banking systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Engage members to understand their needs and recommend suitable products and services, supporting retail sales and cross‑selling efforts.
  • Deliver difficult information with empathy and professionalism, especially when working with financially challenged clientele, and offer alternative solutions when possible.
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain a supportive and communicative work environment and contribute to team engagement and morale.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and branch needs, multitasking effectively in a fluctuating, mid‑volume branch setting.
  • Participate in Saturday branch coverage as needed to support consistent service availability.
  • Follow all branch security procedures and work with on‑site security personnel to maintain a safe environment for members and staff.
Essential Skills
  • Proven customer service experience in a service‑oriented or retail environment, focusing on member satisfaction.
  • Cash handling experience with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage account‑related tasks, including basic maintenance and administrative support.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to deliver difficult information professionally and offer alternative solutions.
  • Comfort working directly with customers face‑to‑face, including in challenging demographic or financial situations.
  • Ability to multitask and remain composed under pressure in a busy branch environment.
  • Team‑oriented mindset with experience working effectively as part of a collaborative group.
  • Proficiency with data entry and basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Self‑starter with confidence to initiate conversations and engage members proactively.
  • Comfort with change and ability to adapt to evolving processes, priorities, and branch needs.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous banking or financial services experience is a plus but not required; strong service industry experience is highly valued.
  • Experience in retail sales or customer‑facing roles with cross‑selling or upselling products and services.
  • Experience working with financially challenged clientele or in communities with diverse financial needs.
  • Interest in leading team engagement activities, such as organizing informal team‑building interactions.
  • Familiarity with basic finance or banking concepts, even if gained through prior non‑banking roles.

Job Type & Location

Contract to Hire position based in Rosedale, MD.

Pay

$21.82 – $21.82/hr

Work Environment

Full‑time, on‑site position during standard branch hours, Monday through Friday (approximately 8:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.) and Saturdays as needed. The branch operates as a mid‑volume environment with secure conditions and on‑site guard, requiring a neat, professional appearance.

Opportunity to Transition to Permanent

After becoming permanent, the schedule may transition to a rotational schedule that includes more Saturdays.
